Sharon (Emerson) Sawyer, A native of northern California, was born June 2, 1938 in NuBieber, a small mill town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In the formative years Sharon lived with her family in Dunsmuir, CA., a mountain town nestled between Castle Crags and Mt. Shasta, two of the oldest volcanic formations in the world. Sharon, mother of three children, resides with her husband, Tom Sawyer in Chico, CA.
The muse of inspiration emanates from Sharon’s soul- the love and creation of music and the rich infusion of all of nature and the cosmos. Thus, all that is inclusive of the elements, i.e., that which is seen, touched, smelled, heard, intuited, dreamed or imagined become part and parcel of the “zone” of art creation. Her immersion into the Fractal Art Zone has been all engrossing. Fractals manage to be ultimately simple, and at the same time, uniquely complex. Sharon describes her Fractal Art as “Painting with Light”, a cybernetic journey through the portals of her mind.
Sharon graduated from CSU Chico in 1993 with a B.A. in Art and a Minor in Music. While pursuing her degree she found that she desired to create in many fields, including pottery, photography, painting, jewelry, as well as music. Exhibitions include CSU Chico, Gualala Art Festival in Gualala, CA, El Dorado Hills, CA, and various charity venues around Butte County. She is a member of the Chico Art Center and participates in the Open Studio Tour that takes place every year. Venues next year will include the San Francisco Bay Area and the Coastal Area in California.
